So it is written, and so shall it be done. :thumb:

I have bought some tools from ifixit, good outfit.

Not familiar with "ifixit," but I suspect I will be soon... :)

KonAaron Snake 01-11-17 08:08 AM

As you can probably tell, they are primarily geared towards fixing computers, but of course the principles apply to other things as well. I've used their video tutorials to do computer repairs, from simple to complex.

OldsCOOL 01-11-17 09:49 AM

Wow, I saved the planet. All y'all can thank me later.

Reynolds 01-11-17 10:23 AM

Agree 100%. I remember how good it felt to ride on a car I had disassembled to the last screw, overhauled and reassembled.

gugie 01-11-17 11:14 AM

I approve of this message.

...if you are at all familiar with the Ifixit forum, you quickly realize that it suffers from the same problems as the BF mechanical forum, compounded by a general lack of anyone with what might be called "expertise". they are, however, well intentioned, and deserve some accolades for that intent, however problematic the delivery system.:)

Living surrounded by about 40 bike shops within a 5 mile range, I support this manifesto too.

And your headsets, and your wheel bearings, and your derailleur pivots...

If not us, then who? If not now, then when? Give me Lithium*, or give me death!

I support my local bike shop. ;-)

Oh...

Time to take off all those microchips from my laptop motherboard... polish them up... and put it all back together :thumb:

You laugh, but ...

Lapping

My sons did this circa 2009, and were rewarded with a miniscule decrease in cpu temperature and modest increase in overclocking margin.

Interesting.
I assume it also includes minimize the heat sink paste. I might have predicted that high surface area would be best, but the paste may be worse for transferring heat than bare metal. 2000 grit sandpaper? Hmm

I have actually cleaned the innards out of many computers, but not to the point of de-soldering. You can't imagine the goo inside of a computer that was owned by a smoker.

WolfRyder 01-11-17 10:04 PM

Sigh... New years resolution is to learn how to work on bikes, ( I suck pretty bad at it right now.) The message is inspiring though, and that is what you call good graphic design.

game_player_s 01-11-17 10:14 PM

I had two co-workers at the computer shop where I use to work at who would only watch the IFixIt YouTube Channel videos with the nerdy girl because they claimed she was the hottest female nerd woman they'd ever seen.
