Cork tape might not be vintage but it "looks" the part, particularly if it's natural or black. I happen to like the look and feel of cork tape, and I never liked cloth or that clear plastic tape -- neither of which provide enough padding for me. I do like Fizik tape and use it a lot, however, I usually put a layer of cork tape under it -- lengthwise along the top of the bar -- for extra padding.

I just bought an '85 Univega Grand rally and ordered some Benotto Cello tape in the same color blue as the original. Never had it before but it looks nice.

Iv been wanting to try some but Iv been wondering what it feels like? And is it pretty stretchy, and/or rubbery?

It's not called Cello tape for nuthin. It's cellophane. Imagine Scotch Tape, the transparent kind in the red dispenser, only like 3 or 4 times thicker, with just enough texture that it isn't totally slippery. Actually maybe 7 or 8x thicker...

If one is seeking the 'rockabilly' theme, consider a burlap (real) with adhesive back tape.

Walmart has it in the craft section, measures 3/4" x 1 yd. cost $1.97. Also available in width as similar to duct tape.
