Hello All:
1999 Match built Paramount with 1984 Waterford Paramount fork. Frame is fresh from the Powder Keg in Salt Lake City. Fork was chromed by a local Harley customizing shop. It will soon have Velocals 1972 Paramount decals. About as anachronistic as I could make it. Color is called Illusion Wild Copper.

Take it out in the sunlight and take some pix that'll knock us out of our panties
I bet it looks amazing in good light.
My first PC job was also done in a prismatic color, can't remember the name, but it's like firey orange. Cool stuff.

I had my GT Karakoram (of which a couple have been posted recently!) done in Arancio, a kind of burnt firey metallic orange years ago, done by argos cycles in Bristol. I had a spare Fatty fork, so I also got them to put a 2" head tube on. I don't think there are many like that on the planet!
And a defo +1 on the sunny pics please!

That is good looking powder coat. Do you know what brand they use and how many coats/stages your frame has? I'm going to have a frame powder coated soon and I'm thinking I'd like metallic or metal flake.

Thanks Colonel. That color (see the link in the original post) requires a clear coat. I believe it is just one base coat and one clear coat but I didn't ask.
FYI, powdercoating two frames and one fork cost me ~$220 and bought the powder directly for ~$75. The other frame and fork is a Trek 950 ($15 at a garage sale) which will soon be a pretty cool commuter.

I've been meaning to show off my new/old Mercian in it's powdercoat. It a monochrome (RAL 3004 IIRC). Done by PowderCoatIt in Sacramento. I thought they did a pretty good job.

Probably be hard and too expensive, but If I could get a half -way decent job in this color, I would do it. I know it is not a Grail X-4, but some mid-range Bianchi's had the color.

@George hey thanks for the tip. I am in the Sac, Davis area, and was thinking about doing something with this faded Bianchi electric rose trofeo. The color as it sits is kinda bugging me, don't actually mind the original if it was fresh, but was thinking about an Argentine Celeste. Don't want to drop that much cash on it though. The bikes mid-range, but has Formula One tubing and no dents, not much rust.

I got the stickers from Cyclomondo: CYCLOMONDO - BICYCLE RESTORATION DECALS
They're very good quality and reasonably priced. Fairly easy to apply but you don't get a second chance when applying them!! Make sure you've got the location right when you start. My placement wasn't perfect but they look pretty good anyway

Ok thanks, what about the prep work on it? Did you do some of that and hand it off to them to powdercoat it or did they help with it?

All I did was disassemble the bike. I brought the bare frame and fork to them. They are not a specialty bike finisher but having said that, I found their work came out pretty well. I inserted old M5 bolts into the water bottle eyelets and also some old adjuster screws in the rear dropouts to protect the threads although it seems that they have some sort of plastic stuff for that. I didn't do anything for the dropout eyelets but they came out fine too.
They sandblast the bike of all old finish since the powdercoat should adhere to bare metal. As I mentioned above, there was some "overspray" on the BB threads that required some judicious scraping by me to get the BB back in.

I thought that powdercoat ends up with a matte, opaque-ish kind of finish like the way the Mercian looks. Does it also end up like the shiny, wet look of the OP's Paramount?

Nice job on that Paramount so far Jimbo. Powdercoat is showing fresh and bright, like the color and good work on the decals. Chrome fork is looking great as well.
