Need help with 70's vintage Campy Record Rear Derailleur

I'm trying to adjust the spring tension on a Campy Record Rear derailleur (on the Bottecchia), and it's just loosey goosey now...
I've scoured the net for some pict-grams or diagrams or something. I was looking for the B-screw to tighten the spring (to swing it back away from the largest cog).
Removed it from the frame... messed with what appears to be the spring thing... *bleah*

I never had any problem with 70/80's suntour/shimano stuff. it's my first Campy project.

Can anyone offer any guidance/documents/etc?
contact me thru e-mail/PM
thanks

Perhaps you can find a schematic here:

From your description, it sounds like your spring need to be turned one more time - not an easy task, but not impossible either. I'm not sure exactly which year/model you have, but as I look up into the bottom of a Nuovo Record, I see six full turns of the spring wire with the seventh pass leading to the horizontal loop that rests on the body to give it tension.

Good luck with it.

ugh... this is what I rekoned... but you are right. I could've had a couple more bottles of beer (stopeed at one New Glarus Pils) trying to wrestle that gnurled, greasy, spring thing around and into the tiny hole and then screw in the mounting bolt... I need an extra hand! When I thought I had it right, I actually had the spring sprung the opposite direction!

Wishing I had left well enough along

okay... I will take a flyer at it again later and check this link

release the tension by pushing the lower part toward the wheel then turn the screw or else, It might strip the screw. clean it in degreaser first. they, S Record, N Record are all the same. Just lighter parts.
