Is that a light strapped to the headtube? If so, remove it please. We must see our badges! (yea yea we don't need no steenking badges.)
I really love this bike. I inherited it from a friend who moved out of the country and have kept it maintained meticulously. I won't be changing the handlebars out anytime soon, as was my original post here...just needed advice from people like you :) |
The catalogs show the stem of SLX changes to Cinelli XA in 1990. Earlier, in the second half of '80s Modolo Professional was used.
Several declared that it was prone to breaks. Later, Modolo produced the Eras-Setra-Tenos serie with a stronger neck. I put on my SLX a Modolo SSC stem with M. SSC handlebar. I hope this is stronger than the professional. If you choose to Cinelli was, there certainly will not be such a problem. Of course, the Modolo is more extravagant. |

That Modolo stem looks a lot like the one that came with my 1987 Bianchi. I read somewhere that it was recalled, due to a propensity to crack and fail. I replaced mine, and the bars, with Nitto, and got a nice boost in height while I was at it.
