Patent Numbers for Museum Bicycle Collection

I'd like to get patent numbers for the Science Museum Oklahoma bicycle collection I'm working on. I've Googled "Bicycle Patents" and have gotten some pages but they're for specific bikes. I found an article on ipwatchdog.com with a few. My question - is there a site, book...anything...where I could search for patent numbers by a bike style or the person who patented them? Thanks.

If we are talking 19th century and very early 20th century bikes I would strongly recommend a phone call to Joe Breeze, curator of the Marin Museum of Bicycling. He is a veritable encyclopedia of information on the evolution of the technology and the inventors and builders of those early bikes both in the U.S. and in Europe.

He is in the museum on Fridays and Sundays.
