I should arrive in Gaiole late Friday, I'll set up the tent on the football pitch, as far from the loo's/bar as possible, which means I'll be at the Pizza take away (top end of the High St, past bar Jolly on the right, the seats are opposite) I would imagine about 9-9.30 ish and then either the bar jolly or the one if you turn up by the Butchers (about 50yds up the hill) I'll have been up since 2am though, so I doubt it'll be a late one
I'll be easy to spot as I'll probably have a Holdsworth tee/cap on,
That should work. Bar Jolly is one of our favoured hangouts by now , so we'll be there. Will pm you my cell phone number.

Looking forward to Friday!

Glad to see you can make it this time! I really hope to get a glimpse of that Holdsworth.

Any chance you guys could join us for a drink on Friday evening?

I've hauled bikes to and from Europe, from Canada, a few times using EVOC softcases, with great results. As @davester pointed out, it's a little expensive to take the bike on the plane.

On arrival in Europe the softcase encased bikes, usually 2, one in each case will fit fairly easily in a smallish rental car along with your other luggage. On one occasion I assembled the bikes and left the cases at a hotel in Milan while we travelled around northern Italy for a week. Hotels usually are pretty accommodating with that sort of thing.

While we're not going to L'Eroica this year I hope those of you who are have a wonderful time. We'll need pictures.

Cheers.

Brad

At that time, you'll probably be competing with our "barely sober", courtesy of the great local wines, so that should not be a problem.

If you aren't locked into a particular airline, look at various policies before actually buying a ticket. The two times I've taken bikes to Europe, Air Brussels let me check a bike in for free in place of a regular suitcase, Air Canada charges $50 each way (again, in place of a checked bag), and WOW Air was like $56 each way for the bike as its own additional piece of luggage. There are still Euro/ME/Asia carriers that allow bikes to count for free as part of your normal luggage allowance.

Tickets on those airlines weren't always the cheapest when looking at base fares, but when comparing with luggage fees, they came out better than someone like Delta, who charges $150 each way.

Arrived in Gaiole today, checked out a few things on the market first. Nothing in my size, luckily.

Currently having a drink at the Jolly Caffe.
