This headset is on the 1957 Flying Scot I acquired. Can anyone help me ID it? I check Velobase and I didn't see anything that resembles this.

oh, and this Brampton crank which isn't on Velobase either. Anyone seen it?

Cheers,

GG

As mentioned in the earlier thread it is a Brampton Aletet. The locknut varied a bit through time.

Gotcha, I didn't see that earlier thread. It is quite a bit different than what Velobase has so it make sense about the locknut varying.

Thanks Juvela!

The Brampton catalogue of 1948 illustrates your locknut as item nr. 915 020 for chrome and item nr. 913 020 for nickel. The Aletet head parts shown at VB are of a later iternation.

I gather you're aware that the "textured grip surface" on the locknut isn't original.

I gather it was an upcharge option.

Trade insiders all know that Channellock was a part of the Brampton works in Birmingham.
