Death fork? Naaaah!!
Blizzard whiteout conditions, should have 2 feet by morning, plus drifts.
Just another day in Maine. What storm are you referring to?

After literally no snow in both Jan and warmest Feb ever, we got 15" yesterday but without the wind issues. I had put my skis away and brought out bikes, I'll have to switch again.

Two inches of sloppy sloppy junk. Finally went outside and shoveled it all onto the lawn this afternoon, was like shoveling badly made jello. Ick.
On the other hand, got through all of my Spring cleaning and polishing today!

Power has stayed on here all day in Boston, but it sounds like Cape Cod had close to hurricane force winds. @rootboy?
And thankfully, the power stayed on. Last storm though, it was off all night. Big tree down on Rt 6A.
And that night we were very glad we invested in that generator.

It's bad enough the wheels on the snowblower wouldn't get any traction to use that method to clear the frozen driveway, I don't know when my brother will be able to get over to use his snow plow from work. He's a lineman so he's on OT during storms. To top it off, the furnace stopped working at 9pm last night, so no heat. Hopefully PSE&G will get here today some time. But at least I was able to cut some of the daffodils and grape hyacinths that opened before this (hopefully) last blast from winter.

We had about a foot with high wind. Then it turned to sleet, then rain, and it all got very HEAVY. It could have been worse.

Due to the mild winter, I was finally able to take my 2 daughters out for their snow driving lessons. The roads were terrible due to the sleet on top of the snow but we survived.

Our son and daughter-in-law called from Durhanm, NH, yesterday afternoon. They said that it was drifting really high there, he had to keep the door and a path cleared so the dog could get out when needed. Both were home due to businesses and schools shutting down. She is a techer in the HS, he is a grad student and UNH and a teller at a credit union, both of them got calls Monday evening saying to stay home Tuesday and Wednesday would be decided on early this morning. Kimberly said that cabin fever was setting in on her already.
These are two Florida born and raised kids, he has experience with the white cold stuff from time spent in Quebec over the years, she had declared that she would never live north of Tampa, FL, when she got caught in a cold/ice/snow event back a few years. Words frequently get consumed so watch gets said.

We got a few more inches overnight, mostly in the very early morning. The snow plow woke me around 4:00, and they salted right after, so nothing really stuck on the main roads, anyways. The worst is the wind, for walking, 19 F feels like -5, they say. Storm warning till 4:00 this afternoon, with a high of 22 F. Stay safe.

There's nothing more coming down now, intermittent sun, but very cold out there, and I have a lot more ice to chop so I can turn my wife's car around without getting stuck. Already slipped and fell on my seat once, didn't hit my head or elbows or anything, but still a good scare.
I do not like the idea of riding my bike to the station tomorrow, with black ice, piles of ice, etc.

I just came in from chopping the foot or so of ice/snow off the end of the driveway, all dumped courtesy of the town plow. What a workout!

This storm, while dumping 10" of wet, heavy snow in Boston, was pocket change compared to the nine feet of total snow accumulation we got during February, 2015.
This was from shoveling my walk and driveway. I had back trouble for a whole month afterward.

EDIT: yes, but they were mitigated by the removal of the snow above them

Of course we could get another, and another, and another, just like 2015.

My part of the Eastern Shore of MD got only rain and sleet, but we are colder now and have a sustained 30 mph wind gusting to I don't know what. Not weather for riding even when the roads are OK.

Geeze, 2015 about killed me. I was in Erie, Pa then, and we got more snow than Buffalo & Rochester, & the other usual "worst" places.
