Exceptional sale
I just got word that a long time collector in the Phoenix area is selling most of his collection next month. April 22, to be exact.
I have no financial interest in the sale, just hope to help out a great friend who many of us here know, and open up a trove of exceptional bike stuff to those who may be looking for something rare..
I hope to have rocketman_531 send me pictures of some examples soon, and will post here if it's within the TOS.
Here's an album of what can be expected:

Simply wow. (And many bikes in my size). There are multiple bikes in there that I have dreamt of owning -- esp the 70s paramount w/ chrome lugs.
How will this be sold?

Here's a write up from a few years ago:
Best Bike Parts | Unnamed Super-Secret Bike Gang | sports-and-recreation | Best of Phoenix® | Phoenix New Times
Edit: I guess the cool stuff has faded away, unless someone can link to a time machine snapshot.
At any rate, I'd be happy to facilitate.

He is selling the whole enchilada at an in person sale in Tempe, AZ on 4-22-17.
There may be an opportunity for items that won't be dragged out of the shop I linked to above. You have to know somebody to get invited inside.

I was fortunate enough to visit Pat probably a decade ago. He has a great collection and some of the stories of getting the bikes are of the "No way!" variety. I am hoping this is by choice and not a forced decision.

He got a lot of his bikes by being the nicest guy who would ever show up in your driveway. Seriously the nicest guy I've ever met in the bike world. No offense to BBM.

This is the reason I do not begrudge hoarders or those with wall-hangers. It's not as if they smelt their collection to make a coffin. They are usually good stewards who preserve the trickle of C&V inventory.

I know that there are more than a few people here that know the seller, and I'm just trying to help him out. I'm local, and a long time friend, and am on some forums that he isn't.
He is checking to see if CR will let him advertise a 'yard sale'.
This is truly a 'once in a lifetime' opportunity.
When I talked to him tonight, he said he has bins of stuff, and 8 bins gets a pre-sale discount.
Please PM with serious inquiries. I will help him ship, but he much prefers in person, and it would be to your advantage to actually meet him.

^You don't have to give anything away. The Mondia Special could be a nice versatile bike. Ditto the PX-10, though those aren't too hard to find.
A small fortune in leather saddles alone.
I'm not usually one for fishnet paint jobs, but that Columbine is fantastic.

Yes, the Columbine is spectacular in person. I'll have to see what he still has, my pictures linked are old, and not what he has for sale, just indicative of what to expect.

Yeah, I checked in with him. At least his kids have the bug also. He is indeed one of the nicest people you can ever meet. Kind of glad all of his stuff is too big for me.

Masi, Masi,Pogliaghi, Confente, Columbine all near my size and in one place for sale. My mind is blown.
Hopefully he gets a decent price doing the one day yard sale. It;s probably not the best way to sell off a collection, but it sounds like that's not what he is looking to do.

That is a ridiculous collection. Not a lot that interests me aside from the American customs (I spotted three I think), and they're all my size. Too far to drive, though.

Phenomenal collection. Regardless of frame sizes and the many out of my league, as a vintage enthusiast I could just get lost in admiring all of it. Kudo's to an individual with great taste, who took years in finding and preserving.
And thanks for sharing the link. Fun even in the zooming of images. Its like moseying in someone else's shop. Great stuff!

I will update with more info as it clarifies, but a lot of the bikes in my album have already been sold. There will be a lot of components available, though.

Well I fit a 59 or 60cm so I would be interested. A lot of them look a little bigger than that, like 62 or 63cm. I am in NorCal, (could maybe do a road trip) and got a little time to shift some stuff around maybe and sell off a few other things. I have been on the CV hunt for last 8 months, so had to slow the expenditures. Half the stuff I got , I would be happier to sell off and upgrade to some of that lot.

I am going to try to get his place in the next week, and get a better idea of what he is selling/keeping, etc.
I'll post all I find out here, rather than reply to the numerous PMs.
