1984 Trek 460 question

Just picked this up over the weekend. 22.5 inch frame. Needs new tires. The original catalog said it was speced with 700x25 tires. Anyone know if 700x28 will fit? Thanks

Bike tires with the same size numbers will vary from maker to maker. I have used 28s on many older Treks without problems but if you use some like Michelins for example they may be to big as they run bigger. Roger

Nice bike. Those are road racers so you might want to measure fork and brake clearances to be sure. I had an '85 460 for 9yrs and loved it's snappy handling.

Threads 2 and 3 pretty much nail it. One it depends as not all 28c tires measure out the same. Second, the catalog and post 3 tell you it's a racing bike. If these are short reach brakes, you may well top out at 25c.
