Lugs site?
 

Is there any place on the web dedicated to bicycle lugs? And maybe fork crowns, BB's, and seat stay tops too. It would be nice to have a reference on this.

If you're asking about currently available stuff, then I'd suggest looking at the companies catering to frame builders.

If you're asking about a historical reference site, that may be harder, but you'll find lugs described as part of frames in a number of C&V related sites.

I bemoan the loss of the excellent photos that were taken by "somebody" Pope (his name, not his title) and once hosted by Richard Sachs but now lost except to the way-back machines and digital archivists. This guy Pope took shots of (presumedly) Richard Sachs' collection of lugs, BBs and crowns from all sides in glorious B&W...why anybody would let that vanish from the interwebs is beyond me!
Here's just ONE example of the work, recognize the E. Bozzi copies of Nervex Pro lugs...now you DO thanks to this material...

No single, all encompassing site that I am aware of for lugs, but Velobase, Classic Rendezvous and Classic Lightweights have sections of their content dedicated to lugs. As said above, the lugs' section at Velobase is pretty comprehensive. I imagine that Sheldon's revered site has a place for some of the makers of quality lugs that would be quite handy.

Are you thinking of Elton Pope-Lance, of Harris Cyclery and Sheldon Brown fame?

Also, don't hesitate to seek out catalogs by the name of the maker - for example, a search for "Bocama catalog" led me to this - Bocama lugs BCM catalog - 2VELO2VELO which helped me identify the lugs on my '74-ish Allegro.

Anybody on this list an out-of-work or underemployed photographer/graphic designer/researcher with time to gather all the data and assemble it into a photograph- and line drawing-heavy book? With print-on-demand, you could self-publish it and people like the folks on this list would probably buy it, especially if it was well researched ....

As regards this particular pattern - IIRC these are shown in an Emilio Bozzi catalogue of 1950 which has been circulated. I would suspect that Bozzi was not in the lug manufacturing business but may have been a reseller. Some of the patterns in that publication are straightforward Agrati. The pattern shown in this photo may have been a stock Agrati one, although not shown in the one Agrati catalogue I have, ca. 1970. It is widely seen on ACER-MEX products. It was employed by Rizzato on some models up through ~1967 whereupon they changed over to the Prugnat 62/d.

Would love to see print materials from a maker such as Malaguti.

Had saved some catalogue pages from an undated but very early looking catalgoue - perhaps pre-war, and also some showing the new products introduced in the late seventies but had a large time gap in between. These pages went a long way toward filling it out most excellently. ;)

The catalog in question was instrumental in figuring out my Allegro's Bocama model 14 pattern II lugs, which were also used on Raleigh Grand Prix and other bikes.

I truly wish I had the time in my life to assemble a team of people to put together THE book on lugs featuring catalogs, photos, specifications, observations from builders who have used them, etc. Lugs deserve the treatment derailleurs got in The Dancing Chain.

Perhaps it is there and I missed it. Have long wondered about model designations for these.

Appreciate the Berto reference. He was local to me so enthusiasts always tried to keep up with his researches as they progressed, prior to launch of tome.
