Can anyone identify this saddle, please.
The only markings are "Made in Italy" on the bottom. Thanks in advance.

It is highly likely that it was also offered bare. There may be a marking in the mould on sides as with the Freccia d'Oro and "Grand-Prix" saddles here: http://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/40YAAO...dY/s-l1600.jpg http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/MTE5NVgxNj...YyCQl/$_57.JPG Here is the underside of a Freccia d'Oro: http://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/UhwAAO...eh/s-l1600.jpg ----- |
That looks a lot like the saddle that came on a 1968ish Gitane Hosteller I got a few years ago. No makers name, only "Made in Italy" on the underside of the shell.

Here is a page from the MICMO catalogue of 1968 showing the Hosteler with a conventional leather item: http://www.gitaneusa.com/images/cata...8/1968_pg2.jpg ----- |
I can't tell if the "made in Italy" text is on the saddle in pic posted be Sloar. I looked at a Grand Prix in my bins and the marking is there, however.
I never gave much thought to the maker of these saddles, which were used on low end Torpados for one. Searching Velobase I found a Selle Italia Grand Prix saddle. It is shown covered but seems to have the same shape. |

It is shown covered but seems to have the same shape. The "MADE IN ITALY" marking on sloar's saddle shows up pretty well in the third photo. Found one poster who states that the saddles marked "Freccia D'Oro" were done by Selle San Marco, but do not know if this is correct. ----- |
had a freccia on my high school 1973 Gitane Interclub.....haven't thought of it for years...wow!

I think the adjuster screw is kind of a unique feature, for a plastic-body saddle.

so they began throwing them into a plastic laundry basket and quickly filled it. to move 'em out they put a 99 cent sign on the basket. when i look at the various ebay's around the world sellers are putting thirty and forty euro/dollar prices on them. ----- |

Likely there because someone had "harvested" the Tron et Berthet product which came with it. ;)
