Falcon? Are they British?
|
I think Bianchigirll is right. This looks like a late 80s Falcon.
http://www.bikeforums.net/classic-vi...on-s-gone.html Falcon Jaguar |
Now that Bianchigirll has said it, yeah - 80s Falcon?
I think this one - - is the less expensive, 501 tubed version of the OP's bike. |
Yep, Bianchigirll got it.
Here's a red one like the OP's: https://c1.staticflickr.com/7/6199/6...46db02a0_b.jpg |
I'm no good at word games.
BG seems to have nailed it. Thanks for the help. |
What a lucky guess :p billytwosheds you really think he has a 531 frame? Would that be consistent with the 27.0 seatpost?
eom I got lucky maybe but the remnants of that decal looked vaguely familiar. Do you have the fork? Did you buy it like that? if so just sell it for what you paid for it. |

Kudos to the OP for providing adequate photos. How many times have we had to pry photos out of people making ID requests?
Nice job BG. The seat tube could also be pinched causing a 27.0 measurement. |
I did not measure, I inserted a 27.0, 27.2 would not fit.
Thanks again to the collective mind.

When Paramounts were built out of 531 in the 1970s you could get a Paramount with either a 27.0 ot 27.2 seat post depending on how the 531 tube came to them. Apparently Reynolds had slight variation in the inside diameter of their tubing. Roger

That 4.12 lb weight would certainly point to 531 or some equivalent premium tubing. Reference a 55cm (C2C) '74 Raleigh International frame at 4.66 lbs, a 57cm '79 Raleigh Comp GS frame at 4.59 lbs., a 58cm 70's Viscount frame at 4.37 lbs., and a 56cm 4130 Chrome Moly (Schwinn LeTour Luxe) frame at 5.45 lbs. Weights are as the OP shows, with all bearings and cups removed.

27.0 is less common but still consistent with a 531 frame. My JRJ takes a 27.0 post as well.
