confusing pairs of letters
I was just looking at a post by Wildwood and did a double take.
http://www.bikeforums.net/attachment...1&d=1495082862 This happens to me every time I see the Austro-Daimler headbadge, because my first thought is Alvin Drysdale: https://c1.staticflickr.com/8/7103/7...fc9258da_b.jpg It's not the same head badge by any means, but there's enough similarity to throw me for a moment. Similar things happen with GB. What's that supposed to stand for, anyway? Not Great Britain, of course... nor Gran Bois... https://c1.staticflickr.com/9/8003/7...d752b1fc_z.jpg https://cdn1.bigcommerce.com/server7...00.659.jpg?c=2 But I find it curious that when faced with a pair of initials, graphic artists seem to come up with the same logos. That's probably why I put these brakes on my CLaud Butler... https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/701/32...4cdf3ebf_b.jpg http://www.classicrendezvous.com/ima...adge_m_gif.gif Anyone have others to add? |

GB stands for Gerry Burgess, a maker of aluminum folding chairs for patio use. ----- |
 ^^ I knew that!
|
Hah! I'd love to have some GB folding chairs on the back patio.
|
We could start a thread with non-cycling products by famous bicycle brands. Batavus made some cool vacuum cleaners BITD ...

Quality Stacking Chairs for Conferences, Banqueting and Hotels From their "about us" page: It started with a bicycle handlebar in 1946 when Jeremy’s father, Gerald Burgess, founded the GB Cycle Company. Spotting a growth opportunity, he soon steered the company towards the burgeoning contract furniture market, adapting the bending, welding and aluminium finishing expertise of the company to the design and manufacture of quality conference and banqueting furniture. And the rest, as they say, is history... |
Oh I had assumed GB meant Great Britain.

I almost grew disillusioned when I found out BSA wasn't Boy Scouts of America. :innocent:
|
I just know I don't need to ride with a POC helmet.
|
On a related note, have you noticed how many car manufacturer's "V6" logos look like "V8" from a distance? Totally coincidental, I'm sure.
|
'primax': or dirimax, opnmax, oirimax, etc.
I'll add the lettering on the slightly obscure Italian Primax seat pillar (on my 93 Longstaff trike). Pillar's OK, but trying to decipher the logo wasn't easy, the slightly wonky attempt to incorporate a bicycle (or part of) in the logotype made it worse, and the slightly irregular stamping of the letters made it still worse. I wasn't familiar with it and tried looking up all possible combinations before success with 'primax': dirimax, opnmax, oprimax, oirimax, etc.
Look and see if you could figure it out... Here's a picture of said post itself: 1993 Longstaff tricycle photos set 5 | rjl.us (press the photo for more photos of the cool trike, too) |

Are those pads on backwards? Hate to see those brake inserts fly off when hard braking!

Ah, same back as front. Pads have a lot of shear strength I guess! Thanks.
Always liked the look of these later CLB brakes.

Not as "slip fit" as they might appear at first glance:

I have a Kettler Alurad, and the main reason I bought it was that BITD my little brother used to have one of these (and I did not :( ) :

Yes, but 'British Small Arms' is evocative of a cartoon T Rex declaiming in a plummy Yorkshire accent; and what could possibly be better than that? :P
I always liked the prominent BS headbadge on the early Bridgestone bikes and those on the infamous KIA (Killed In Action) bikes. https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com...4c5b0a3b06.jpg http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/MTE5NVgxNj...FZAJMz/$_1.JPG |

My first encounter with Panasonic was AA batteries back in 1963 when we moved to Japan!
