Finding Hercules brake pads and parts

Hey all, I just picked up a 1939 Hercules Gents bike in decent condition. The brakepads were completely worn down, so I replaced them with some standard ones I found at my local bike shop. Unfortunately, they lack the 'frame-guard' type of L-shaped brackets which prevent the pads from moving too much when under stress. When I pull hard on the rear brake, the pads wedge themselves between the frame and the rim, locking up the rear wheel (giving me a 'binary' rear brake; on or off!).

Does anyone know where I can find old brake components for this bike online? Preferably in the UK.
