Showing off the stable (80s steel)

https://imgur.com/gallery/ig81V

I think I've posted most of these at one point or another but I just got everyone tuned up for Spring and wanted to show off.

In order:
Miele Azsora
Kuwahara Cascade (converted to drop bar fixed gear)
KHS Montana (converted to city bike)
Unknown Miele, terry-style

Can't recall the model years, but safe to say everything is mid-to-late 80s.

Kuwahara is still my favorite of the bunch.

Looks like they are made for 3 different riders.

Each different, and nice. Look like good riders.

But yeah, the difference in Miele sizes with 'tradition' set-up appearance would indicate one is for a SO.

Oops, thought I mentioned it. First two are my bikes, last two belong to my wife.

A classis&vintage crowd might appreciate the leather saddles as well!

Mine too! I've had this basic concept in my head—super versatile Cross-Check style bike—for the better part of a decade, but never found quite the right frame for it. It would always be one little niggling detail: no horizontal dropouts for fixed gear mode, or clearance not quite good enough for the size of tires I wanted to run, or yknow, *something*. Then one day I stumble on this little beauty on Craigslist and I could tell right off that it was perfect. Sixty-Fiver's Kuwahara Cascade was always a big influence on the bike I wanted to build, so that felt pretty perfect, and then to top it off, this model year has the mid-fork rack mounts that I wanted. Brilliant!

The only thing I'm not super stoked on are the rear brakes (under the chainstays), but I like the bike well enough that's I plan to have a frame builder chop those off and add standard cantilever bosses.

Measure the space between stays for the new canti's. They may determine the choice of brands that would work.

It might not be what you are use to but chainstay brakes are quite powerful, clean up the top side of the bike and somewhat unique. Downside of course is if you do a lot of mud riding.

The biggest problem is that they interfere with the chain in fixed gear mode. It's not a huge deal—the front brakes stay on and I can brake the rear wheel with my legs—but mostly it would be nice to not have to remove the brakes every time I swap setups.
