000 steel wool and chrome polish with a lot of work. I did a whole frame and fork and it turned out great.

I did use SW & polish on the aluminum rims & spokes with pretty good results. I will try your method later today and will report back. Thanks again. :thumb: |
I would avoid SW unless it is brass Wool. I think it will scratch as evidenced on my Montello :(

If SW is used, make sure it is the 0000 level of softness. And don't forget the polish, remember the polish...

That is indeed a clearcoat film. You can scrap it off gently but I am very Leary of that. I've done it on an old Sekine after I got as much off with tinfoil. I have heard that chemical paint strippers will work but never tried it and don't know if I would recommend it. Some others might chime in with first hand experience. I think it was [MENTION=405138]rid[/MENTION]dle of Steel that did a chrome SLT 12.2 up with a modern-y group.
Really cool! Both of yours are really sweet as well. |
Thanks Golden Boy... I've got more pics to post (attach), but every time I post via attachments, the 2nd pic is rotated. 3rd pic normal, 4th pic rotated... very aggravating. I need to figure out what's going on as I want to post the before pic, then the after pic right next to it.
