Front rack, with custom rails
Since my brother is a boat builder, I tasked him with designing a rail system for this Origin 8 front rack.
Cherry wood, epoxy assembled, with zip ties eventually securing it to the rack.
Well, not surprisingly, it turned out quite nice!
The bike will be used as a day-tripper and grocery-getter, for my daughter-in-law, so whatever she wants to load up should work well.
I figure one of those net bungee things will complete the package.

Looks quite nice! Reminds me of the woodwork on my folks yacht. Lots of oiling while in the slip. Interested to know how these Crosscuts handle a load up front.
Can't wait to see this build finished before you have to ship it off!

It's well done. Is it a surprise for your daughter-in-law? Will you use anything on it to protect rom the elements?

Yes, I will take some better pics when the bike is done.
All the wood was coated with epoxy, and then assembled, making it totally waterproof.
The planning, precision, and jigs he had ready was really impressive.

Yeah, it really needs braided paracord made from virgin Rhinemaiden hair, shorn under a new moon and braided by the Guild of the Golden Fleece. That should hold it.

Yeah, but when it dries it grips like a jealous Valkyrie.
