bianchi tessera

Hi,

I am primarily interested in older bikes and searching for a help in this forum.

I got one very interesting bicycle in excellent condition, tried to search as much info as I could, but with little success.

It is a Bianchi road bike from 1986-1987

- pink color
- frame bianchi lessera campione del mondo 1986-1987.
- drivetrain campagnolo records 1st generation
- hubs giepemme sprint
- rims mavic MA 40
- cranks bianchi probabbli giepemme
- breaks modolo flyer
- steam modolohandle bar modolo

I would be grateful for any information.

Also if anyone is interested in buying it, please let me know.

Best regards

Juraj

First and foremost welcome to the forums as this is your first post. Im sure this forum can pinpoint what bike you have and much more info you havent been able to find. Some pictures of your bike will help greatly but as far as selling there is a required paid paid subscription among other thing in order to sell here.

Good luck and if you need help posting pics let us know.

It's a 1987 model based on the CdM decal and most of the components are indicative of a Bianchi Trofeo, though based on your descrition the derailleurs have been replaced. It was 5th in the road bicycle line and the tubeset is Bianchi Special Formula II by Columbus.

I'n wondering if the Campy C Record derailleur and Syncro shifters weren't a later upgrade by the owner, as it does not seem to match up with the other components on the bike, which look like m8d level stuff.....

Take a look at the 1987 Bianchi catalog on VeloBase. I can't post a link yet...getting closer.

According to that catalog the Super Legera came with C Record rear and B Victory front derailleurs. Also the 87 came with Modolo Flyer brakes, handlebars and stem, so that looks correct too. Other matches are the Gipiemme Sprint hubs and if it is a Gipiemme crankset. The specs also say the 87 came in celeste and yellow so this may be an 86 or 88? I bet others can fill in more now that pics are up. They definitely have more knowledge than I. According to the catalog, 1 step up from the Trofeo TMar mentioned. Should be a mix of Columbus SL/SP.

Beautiful bike. Bianchis have always looked like pretty bikes to me. What kind of geometry did they have in the 80s? That catalog does not have a geometry chart.

Here is a link to an original 1987 Super Leggera being restored - John's Bicycle Restorations: Ron's 1987 Bianchi Super Leggera Restoration - Celest Green

Here is a link to the 1987 Catalog - https://velobase.com/Resource_Tools/D...987Bianchi.pdf

You should be able to deduce what is not original on yours from the reference material above (Shifters & Rims). The one thing I find interesting is the color, Electric Rose. There is no mention of that color being supplied for that year; however, Electric Rose was featured on the '86 Trofeo. I am basing that on English/US catalogs and reference material I can find on the net, which show the (2) colors being Celest Green and Yellow; however, different world markets may have been given other options.

Hi,
many thanks for your expert knowledge and all of your answers!
I checked the bike again and compared all the components to the 1987 catalogue.
Below are only parts which do not match with the catalogue:

Tires Hi-lite pro 700x19c Michelin
crank Bianchi olmega 52 42
Seatpost Gipiemme
saddle Selle San Marco laser
freewheel Regina extra 21 14
grip benoto
head set azuro 25,4x24 f
handlebar Modolo Speedy Anathomic design brevettato
rim mavic ma 40
Do you maybe have any suggestion on how to find out from what kind of tubes is the frame made of? I couldn’t find it, as it is not shown on the stickers.
I also wanted to ask for your opinion regarding the price of such a bike.

I was thinking the same. Mine even had those Modolo brakes and the Modolo stem that got recalled. Crank was Gippieme though.

If it is basically a Superleggara, then most likely the tubes are SL (or SLX).

Do you think GIPEME made the CRANKS for BIANCHI? As I see only Bianchi label on them.

They may well have. My 1987 Superleggara had a crank that looked completely different (and probably weighed twice as much.) @Bianchigirll will have answers to all questions us mere mortals find vexing.

I also have no idea what the bike is worth, but it looks to be in excellent condition so I would probably guess quite a bit.

Mine had the same rear derailleur BTW, so yours is probably the original. It also had friction shifters.

It is too early, I am already running late and have a headache so I'll look at this closer later.

It is a pretty color. I wonder if it is a Canadian model

Yes, now that pictures have been posted, I can confirm that it's definitely a Canadian market 1987 Bianchi Super Leggera based on the Electric Rose colour, Ofmega Super Competizione crankset as opposed to Gipiemme, and MAVIC MA40 rims as opposed to Ambrosio. Missing pedals would also have been Ofmega Super Competizione. Bar tape, saddle cable housing and possibly lever hoods have been changed. Original price $1250 CDN.
