Vintage Motobecane model identification
 

Picked this older Motobecane up for 40€ from its first owner. I've searched around on google trying to find out what model and maybe a rough idea of what year it is (owner cant remember) I took a picture of all the stickers I could find and the numbers on the BB, any help would be appreciated.

The decal scheme is early 80s as in 1980 / 81 / 82. Check the catalogs available on bulgier.net for these years and look at the components used. From what I can also see the rear derailleur has been changed at some point. The model could be a Mirage or similar. Decent bikes and you got a great deal. Vitus 172 tubing is butted and almost as good as Reynolds 531.

The fork crown and bottom bracket lugs make it a lower-than-top-tier model, certainly. The webbed large chainring argues for late 70s, but windowed lug looks later; the slant-parallelogram rear dérailleur ditto, especially with the black pivot plates, though that could have been replaced. Those stripes on the lower down tube and seat tube were a definite period thing with Motobécanes. I would check out Moto catalogs from some online source, and you'll probably find that bike in one of them.

I'd pay 40 euros for a vitus 172 double butted main frame complete bike all day long. That is a very good deal.

Thanks for the help guys, My best is to say its an 81 Jubilee Sport. the only thing im not sure about is it has Sulky brake levers and Mavic rims and hubs and the Jubille Sport has Shimano hubs by the specs on the catalog.

It was 40, but I had to stick some money into it to get it back on the road, tires/tubes brake pads and cables. Still worth it, glad to hear I got a good deal.

Given that the OP is located in Germany, there's a very good probability that the model does not correspond to any seen in the USA catalogues. 172 main tubes and a hi-tensile fork suggest a lower mid-range model. I wouldn't be surprised if it as early as circa 1978, as that is when those graphics first appeared. I'd be checking for component date codes ,except on the rear deraileur, which is an obvious replacement.

It looks close to the 79 team champion aswell, the color, and the cranks look similar. Ill see what other number/compents I can find and upload some pictures of them later in the thread.

I rode a friend's which looked very much like that, with the same color paint, in '83, 84, '85. I am sure it was an early 80's bike. I do not recall any info on the model, etc. I loved that bike. Should have bought it from him. He didn't ride it much.

Color-wise it does resemble the 78-79 Team, but wrong tubing and nothing like the same qualifying frame. I do think that time period is right. One of the lower US models (Mirage I think) appears to use the same color as my 78 Team, so that wouldn't be a surprise.
