a bit of a lark I suppose, but since there is a sub 20lb steel bike thread, how about a thread for the slightly overweight carbon fiber and aluminum steeds?

Sure, you could get it down to 16 or 17lbs.. but yours just isn't that way....

This one started out life as a 20+lb CF Calfee TetraPro - but back then it wore Racing Triple9, threaded with steel steerer tube. Then upgrade to fork = CF with Al steerer. Then upgraded to Chorus/Centaur 10 with FSA compact double. Then lightened with full carbon 1"/new stem. Sub 20lb now for a 60cm, 3.0lb frame. With tubulars i think it is sub-19, maybe.

Before & after last changes.

specialized m2 team sworks frame with xt 1x9 stuff and sram descendant cranks 23lbs
20170514_144525.jpg

Vitus zx1 with 10 record and Vento wheels, with pedals it would just break 20lbs
..those ventos have aesthetics AND weight. Changing to new wheels would drop over 2lbs.
20161126_135905.jpg

Even cheap modern carbon with tiagra would come in under 20lbs.

I think this is a hair over 20 lbs. Frame is titanium, fork is aluminum.

~1994 Lemond RS (titanium)

This is a 2004 Felt SR91, all stock except for the rack. It weighs in at 23.8 pounds without cargo. I think the steel chainrings put it over.

I do love it, though -- fast and responsive, and it was the first bike I bought after gaining a basic understanding of bike fit. It's a 56cm and fits me like a glove. Perfect for commuting with the flat handlebars and trigger index shifter 3x8 setup. Going on 11 years now...
