I wonder where the Osmond lawyers were when little Jimmy signed up to endorse the bike......

To judge from what is painted on a friend's bike, "TREK TREK TREK TREK TREK TREK TREK". I'm not sure that's enough TREK's.

Yep, the name is still around although few would consider today's Mongoose to have any ties to the "real" Mongoose. They've gone the way of Schwinn and are actually owned by the same conglomerate, Dorel Industries.

Dorel, by the way, actually has some credible names under its purview: Cannondale, Guru, Fabric, Charge, Sugoi...

A French guy I rode with in the mid-1960s had a Roold and then got an Oscar Egg.

Always liked the Kabuki bikes with the downtube decal reading "Tested Finest Bicycle With Precision Mechanism."

On a more serious note. I've always liked the name Pinarello and especially in combination with the great model Montello.

Pinarello Montello

It's sounds like a dessert, could be a ice cream flavor.

That's OK. Anything more expensive would likely be wasted on me and my riding skills. It's pretty vanilla but it's holding up nicely. Picked it up through Nashbar.

"Sannow" - it's a transliteration of the characters 山王, which happens to be the name of the neighborhood in Tokyo where these bikes were originally made and sold, with the added bonus that the characters themselves literally mean "mountain king."
