Conti

Here is last weekends pick up. A Conti navy blue, 126 spacing, campy dropouts, braze on fd holder, lots of chrome, campy shifters, super record rd, shift cables, with the stainless steel rd cable housing. No date on rd. I'm guessing this is about 1984 mfg.

Anybody else have Conti? I did see that these were probably made in the Ciocc plant.

More pictures to come.

Thanks Tom, I guess there are not many of the brand produced.

I had to ask myself, "How many times this bike branded?"

This build is almost done, and it is to put in one word, WICKED!

Nicely put together. The dark frame with all the alloy goodness is a very nice contrast.

Sweet machine, gotta start stalking the co-op. What kind of bar tape is that, semi translucent?

Wileyone 02-02-18 07:34 PM

Looks like Benotto to me.

That is Benotto, I was able to get a rainbow pack of vintage colors.

Wow, that's looking great - and when done with the white accents it's going to look fantastic! The frame has a lot of nice details; I like that 4-lobed Ciocc window in the BB shell in particular. How wide are those bars, anyhow?

It's nice to know one can still find Campy SR/NR at the coops/Recycled Cycles. I found most of my earliest Campy while in the UK, but after I moved to WA in '01 I found all my pre-Ebay parts - and my Somec frameset - at RC.

Lookin' good, my man, lookin good. This one will be a keeper once you get all the finishing touches in place.

The Marsh pattern bar looks like a real anachronism on there. ;)

In the photo of the fork crown area on the assembled cycle it appears something is out of alignment, but this may be just due to photographic perspective.

Dating looks spot on from here. :thumb:

Very cool little Italian flag brazeon like was just being discussed in another Ciocc thread. :thumb:

Really like that saddle. Hard to find used ones that are not all beat up. Finished bike will be a real "looker". Don

Yep, my understanding is these were from the same Bonati Brothers plant that owned the Ciocc brand and built several other brands under contract. John was one and if that flag braze-on is an air-tight clue then Concorde and even a few Guerciotti and Bataglin made have come out of their plant. With that BB shell piercing the Ciocc connection is pretty certain for this one and I own a late-model Ciocc with the same seat cluster as this. I predict you'll really enjoy the ride! Congrats on a fine job with a great find.
