Replacing components - '85 Fuji Sagres
 

Hey there guys and girls,
I am upgrading the parts on this newly purchased bicycle, and everything was fine until I walked into a bike shop and mentioned that I was buying parts online. They said something about people buying parts that don't fit their bicycle and having a tough time returning them to get the right parts. But I figured it shouldn't be so hard to choose the right parts.

This is the questions I have,
does anyone know what kind of crank my '85 Fuji Sagres uses?
Maybe provide a way I can search them.

Tell the moderator to move this to C&V. The Sagres probably has a Sugino or Sakae crank.

Crank would be JIS square taper, common as dirt. However if you change the bottom bracket as well the sky is the limit. Your bike would have a 68mm wide BB shell with English threads. Just make sure to match the spindle length to the crankset Mfr's recommendation to maintain the correct chainline.

The Sugino GP crankset can have the BCD of 130 mm or 110 mm. It's the diameter of holes in the chain rings. It defines the minimum chain ring that you can install.
It's easy to measure it.
You have to measure the length of the corresponding bottom bracket too.
