Help identifying possible Bianchi
 

Hi,
I'm new to this forum but thought someone may be able to help identify a bike I've bought.
I picked it up for £50 off Gumtree and and although it has Bianchi graphics, I'm not sure if it actually is.
I bought it from a lady who said it had been hers Dads bike for many years and had sat in the garage for quite a while.
It has obviously been resprayed years ago but looks ok (from a distance) and rides really nice.

It is a light bike with some reasonable bits on it , so was worth a punt for £50. The frame makes a nice ping sound when flicked, a bit like my other Reynolds 531 framed bikes.

It doesn't have any stamps on it but does have a four digit number stamped under the BB shell. It is 4806. I've attached some photos.

Any help would be really appreciated.

What is the seatpost diameter? 27.2mm indicates butted CrMo tubing (the good stuff).

Number on BB shell is similar to Bianchi format, but lacks the digit and alpha lead-in (see my signature).

At least they left the shift lever bosses and derailleur hanger intact. That makes it worth a lot more than a hacked-up equivalent.

Hi, I've just checked, it seems slightly smaller than 27.2. I tried a 27.2mm seat post from one of my other bikes and it wouldn't fit in. From measuring it with a ruler it looks more like around 26mm.

It is a light bike though. easily as light as my 531 bikes I have, if not lighter.
