Hard to go wrong with Shimano 600 from that time period, great reliable components.

Thanks for the new pics. I was looking at some Biopace cranks on eBay last night, but wasn't sure if they would be appropriate.
Interesting as I just picked up a box full of components, including a BioPace crank and ring set. Pretty sure that I have another tucked away. I have to admit that I am not a BP fan.

Sorry forgive me for not reading every single reply before trying to help, I just worried you might waste your money on incompatible parts

I do appreciate the input and I'm sorry if my reply sounded harsh.

I received the 600 crankset from @mapleleafs-13 (thanks very much!) and installed them yesterday along with a new BB and chain. Everything looks good, but unfortunately the chain is skipping on the rear sprockets whenever I stand up on the pedals. It's not jumping up or down to another gear. It's more like a skip with a clunking noise on the rear sprocket. It seems to do it at all speeds.

It was doing this when I bought it, but I thought the old chain was the problem because it looked stretched and I don't think it was the right size for a six speed. The rear sprockets appear to be all right and I don't see any excessive wear or bent/broken teeth. I'm pretty sure I sized the chain right (55 inches) and used the calculator available here: Javascript Bicycle Chain Length Calculator. I attached a couple pics showing the sprockets and the derailleur position on low and high gears.

Edit: I just took the wheel off and checked the rear cassette freewheel. It is really loose and wobbles quite a bit. I'm guessing this is probably causing the problem.

Here's a link to a youtube video of the cassette freewheel if anyone wants to have a look:

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks to @@mapleleafs-13; I have a "new" Shimano freewheel installed and my chain skipping problems finally seem to be gone.

Finally got out for a proper ride today. So far I've replace the bottom bracket, cranks, freewheel, chain, and headset. Next on the list are hubs, tires, peddles, and saddle, but at least I can finally ride it.
