tough to know anything without pictures, I see you are new to the forums so it will take 10 posts to get those privileges or you can write out a link to where your pictures are (i.e Flickr DOT com/blahblahblah) I have found the following site helpful for ID of old Schwinns. Vintage Schwinn Catalogs 1899 to 1984

Like their brother the Varisty they are heavy entry level 10 speeds with one piece cranks but they're solid bikes and great start for getting into rebuilding old bikes. My first rebuild was a Varsity. IMHO not worth sinking a bunch of money into but you can just replace the consumables (tires, tubes, chain, bearings and grease, cables and housing and bar wrap) without breaking the bank and you'll learn alot.
