Wow, I've had a couple of 70s St. Etiennes. One was from the dump and thus free. The other was $50. Inflation sure is a b*tch.

Wonder if part of that batch sold to the public from a warehouse in Boston about this time.

is this the price for a bike or a vacation to st. etienne? Pretty fair for the latter, probably not so much for the former

Quite rare brand but the lack of name recognition hurts the value. I had a late 1970s, mid-range, competition model with Reynolds 531DB and Simplex/Nervar/Mafac components.

Had a customer with one kitted like this. His was orange. IIRC it was three tube 531DB with Juy ends.

Back in the early '70s, during the Gas Crisis and Bike Boom, one of the local Honda car dealers had a promotion of giving away a St Etienne bicycle with any new Civic. Back then the Civics were selling for $1995...

I turned my St. Etienne into a single-speed porteur, replacing the original fork with one from a Raleigh Int'l, which has a bit more rake. It was originally that fairly ugly brown, so I had it PCed gloss black. Here it is transporting the Box of Crap!

This is the perfect shot of the box o'crap. I like it,

I may have to get a rack like this for my UO 8 project.

^^^ Agreed, and would add a perfect shot of everything in the shot, C+V, BOC and all that is good about this bike thing.

This is one of the livelier threads we have had regarding a "non-bike."
