She's got a fleet and with some rarely ridden. I'll bring something home for her and she's like "oh thats nice".... works like a charm ;-)

Of course not! That wouldn't be ethical, now would it?

It does happen that mrs non-fixie is not at home when I bring in a bike, so she may have missed one or two ...

My half of the garage has bikes, almost assembled bike projects, and tools. Her half has the twin bed she said she wanted to get rid of, and boxes and boxes of her stuff.

So, no, not yet.

At the point I hit 23 bikes, I started getting "looks" from the family.

No one really said anything, but they did chuckle occasionally about their bike looney father/spouse.

I'm down to a third of that, but I'm starting to seriously chat with a West Coast builder about a bike that could cover several bases for me.

I honestly enjoy being able to move around the basement though. It's a breath of fresh air.

Now that she has a bike that's fancier than anything I have, it's all good.

My half of the garage has our almost-a-classic 1996 Audi. Her half has our Passat wagon. The rafters have bicycle storage hooks for six bicycles, and the shelves along each side hold the junk. I am always amused by people who park thousands of dollars worth of cars outdoors so that a few hundred dollars (at most) worth of junk can have the garage.

I have at least 22 bikes that can be ridden, and about 10 or so frames. I have bikes and parts crammed in the garage and a storage unit. I have bikes stashed at the LBS. I have three out on loan. My wife shakes her head for good reason. I think I have a problem. But, I'm getting a very cool new..........

I added 2 bikes these year. The wife knew about one of them, but not the current one. That bike sat, closely racked with the others, for at least 4 weeks, when she says, "do you ride all those bikes ?". "yep, 4 get ridden on a weekly basis." And I do ride 4-5 days a week. She tracks me on Garmin Live, in case something happens. KB.

To be fair my wife genuinely likes some of the bikes I have redone and as long as one goes away every so often she's cool with it. She said there are far worse things I could be doing instead.

After promisingto offload at least 10 bikes this year, I showed Elizabeth the Kijiji ad and took her to see it. I knew she'd be a sucker for the streamers. She likes old stuff, just like me. I'm a lucky guy.

Not so much LOL I would say that is a positive of the divorce. In fairness we have a amicable relationship these days and a daughter who we both love dearly. I regularly house and pet sit and gaze longingly at my long lost garage.

Amen brother! I always shake my head at shiny spendy new cars parked consistently on the street and think really? I regularly drive, and sometimes ride, by a Porsche Cayenne parked thusly.

Your wife is right too, lol. I've bought and sold 5 bikes over the past 12 months, and while my wife thinks it's a pretty cool hobby for me, she does wonder why I'm still scouring CL for bikes while I'm still working on a project.

I tell people, "Hey, if buying and/or selling used bikes is my mid-life crisis, she's got it pretty good. Sure beats buying corvettes and chasing young blondes, right?"

Actually, she has a similar addiction to clothing, so I kind of think she like to know I have one too.

I agree, but in my defense the Blue Book value of my car is $2000. A similar amusement is people who pay $80-100 for a storage area to store things worth, at most, $1000 - 2000 dollars.

Not exactly what this thread is after, but about an hour ago my wife said, just out of the blue, "I need another bike."
