French Fender Day October 7, 2017 @ Peter Weigle's

https://c2.staticflickr.com/6/5065/2...8fbcce66_b.jpg

The annual pilgrimage of low trail, 650b Kool-Aid guzzlers to Lyme, Connecticut. I've been itching to go ever since I heard about this.

No firm plans yet, but if I do go, it'll be with Big Red so she can go back to see papa. Maybe I'll incorporate a short tour and meet up with some BF members.

I'm surprised you haven't gone yet, @gugie. I'll definitely keep an eye on this thread for delicious bike pron.

Kids, work, cross country flight...

At first blush I thought, "boy, that is a tiny frame he's brazing".

That's fair. I keep forgetting that you guys are on opposite ends of the country!

Vonruden 08-18-17 12:17 PM

I've been trying to make this one for a couple years, however with 3 boys in soccer and basketball, seems like an important game always falls on the same date. May need to ask the wife to video some highlights so I can go guilt free.

Common theme: Start riding with a younger, married guy, up for riding most weekends. Big announcement! Kid on the way. Some last minute big rides. Baby's born. Maybe another one or three. When the last one turns about 12, once fleet friend is a bit lumpy, wants to get back into cycling. Bars move up level with the saddle, tires get fatter, weight weenie bias is gone, because the engine...

Riding across the country when you have all those responsibilities...guy dreams, god laughs.

Isn't FFD invitation only or is open to anyone who has an interest?

But which bike to take? The Herse, the Singer, or the Weigle? Or why not the Ebisu?

Just take 'em all!

Tough decision, most likely these three.

VR- Love to see those in person.

Can't do it this year, as I am on a Steelhead trip with the guys.

Perhaps the following year......

Awesome collection of constructeur bikes all beautifully set up....

greg3rd48 08-19-17 09:38 AM

I am quite sure that I will be in attendance this year.

top506 08-20-17 07:34 AM

None of my bikes are cool enough for that crowd. I'd love to go, though.

No one has mentioned it in C&V yet but we do the semi-annual CCRT ride over Columbus Day weekend. If I recall correctly it has been on Saturday which would be Oct 7. Top, what's your schedule like this year? Perhaps we could ride on Sunday instead. The point is, if you are coming to southern New England this may be your chance to ride the CCRT too! Distance each way 22 miles, plus a short run over to the Atlantic in Wellfleet.

Beautiful bikes!! I am however intrigued by this one. I am thinking the shifter under the seat operates the RD? It looks like a 'Suicide' setup for the FD? but what is the thing on the TT? Or am I completely wrong?

It's a demountable, both shifters on the seat tube, a true "crotch rocket".
