Mohawk by Snyder

I can not find any numbers on this bike I just bought. It has an indian on the head badge also Snyder Little Falls NY and some more I can't read due to bad paint job. The bike has two top tubes on the frame, like an old motor bike. I'd like to find out the year of production of my new ride. Anyone know?

Alrighty then. The standard drill around here is take lots of detailed outdoor pics including close ups of dropouts, headset, underside of bottom bracket etc. And get them posted here. There is almost certainly a serial number on there somewhere. Good luck. Of course, condition is everything.

Where is the serial number located on the Mohawk? what years were these produced?

No, those are this symbol (I believe for life) reversed in meaning. I'm not an expert on this, but I believe the symbol originates in Hindu culture. A local playhouse has these engraved in marble...pre-dating the mustache by 50 years +. They give you a hand out explaining the meaning if you ask, but the symbol pre-dates nazism and the meaning was quite different.

Ha ha, I new this would come up. In Native American, (of which I am), tradition it it known as the "Swirling log" and also is found in symbolism and architecture in cultures all over the world quite literally since the beginning of time.

Your serial number is almost certainly found under the bottom bracket or "crank hanger". You might have to remove some paint to find it, if so, do so carefully. You will have to have help to decode it because they were repeated over many decades. That's why detailed pics are so important. Those bikes were made in many styles for many different brands from the turn of the 20th century all the way up through the fifties. There is a phenomenal wealth of knowledge here but I doubt you will learn much more without doing some due diligence. And most of us put a general location in our user profiles, this would help with any value estimates. Good luck.

P.S. Unless your user name means North Texas of course:):)

Original paint needs removing? No. I live in NY and thought the frame had a cool look. So, I'm gonna build it. I couldn't find information online besides that close-up of the headbadge. There's no #'s on the bottom bracket "unless they're under the original paint"
Maybe I have some kind of prototype or special order bike? I don't know what else to say. It looks like an early moto bike(with 2 top bars) but I noticed a phillips head bolt so maybe its from the 50's. I sure would like to find the serial number.

The bike appears to have already been repainted.
