Colors Code

Hi guys , soon i'll get my new bike (founded on some sort of italian craiglist). Some parts are original and that is nice but sadly the previous owner decided to use a cheap paint on it. Since i don't know what kind of frame it is i'm starting to think to use a personalized color inspired to those old paints... So here my question:

What kind of colors do you recommend for an bike near 1955-65?
Can you share the exactly paint color code (i want to use the same used as cars).

Thanks!

In the US in that era "candy apple red" was quite popular, as were two-tone paint jobs.

For my Austrian 1959 Capo Modell Campagnolo, I chose a stock metallic red from CyclArt.com -- it is a bit more maroon than the original color, and not a true candy. The two-tone treatment is correct for this particular bicycle.

Try like a "1962 GM color chart" search on the internet

Good way to get all those great DuPont colors!!!
