I don't know what the hell I was thinking when I bought it. 2x4 makes me about 1/8 a person.

Beautiful bike! I have an '85 Trek 760 with the original Campagnolo Victory group. That 770 would look real nice next to it You at all interested in hearing offers on it? We can PM if you're interested.

Thanks for reaching out and regardless enjoy the ride!

My girlfrie...
actually no, my fiancé and I are in. She's got a Miyata 210 and now a 710, both are from '86. I imagine she'll be on the tourer for a 40 mile ride.

I don't have anything from Europe but I have a few interesting American and Japanese bikes, and I'll need help picking one.

The most interesting are a
1990 Miyata CT-3000
It's a carbon wrapped aluminum framed bike.

A pristine '88 Cannondale Black Lightning with the Suntour Sprint group.

A 1984 Trek 610 thats just a Cadillac of a ride.

Those are my first instincts, they're what I concider the most interesting and "rare" if a production bicycle can be called that.

Secondarily I have an '84 Miyata 610 that definitely needs building up, this would be a great excuse to stop dragging my feet.
A Cannondale 3.0 ST600 thats pretty beat up but I've put 40mm tires on it!
Two Trek Pro series', an '86 and an '87. The '86 is red and yellow, the '87 Black to grey fade with black and gray anodized Shimano 600 on it.

I have a few other bikes but those stand out the most. What would be most interesting to you guys?

I would love to see that Black Lightning in person. I have yet to see one other than in pictures. Otherwise, any one of the others would do the trick. All very nice bikes in my opinion.

That black lightning has an air pump mounted to the bottle basement and raceblade fenders and it's still my lightest bike. That was before CAD design so it has the fat chain stays and oval seat stays. It's "just" a tight version of the touring bike. Cannondale designers of the eighties were wizards.
The fenders I installed to keep pebbles off the paint, it's definitely not a rain bike!

Very handsome bike, those chainstays are Long! The bottom bracket drop has to be at least 75 mm.
One day I will find an early 60's SC, before the geometry revise in the early 70's.

I look forward to seeing all and hope to be riding the '72 Witcomb (UK made). One owner, all original since new it landed in my hands very rough. I'm almost finished with the goal of preservation including original gearing. One exception are the brakes, that were beyond being practical....

Have yet to sort out a proper brake pad as the original brakeset was a major hacked Weinmann Vainqueur 999 (horrendous drillium including the brake mount ears cut off!). Threw the set in the garbage and now replaced with 3rd gen. GB Coureur 66 centerpulls. Though at the time of purchasing the calipers, I hadn't realized not enough pad reach going UP. This bike was built for 700c only and takes short reach cal's. Unless someone has an unusual find / short reach GB's and willing to trade, I'll resort to making my own brake pad mounts and be done with it.

Anyways, I'll bring a small box of mixed vintage gratuitous parts box for all to pick through. Help yourself.

Ps. Safe riding all. I narrowly avoided going down this evening riding the Colnago. Loose pitbull, owner was right there, absolutely negligent and did not have the dog on a leash. Arghhh

Unless the weather forecast shows likelihood of evil weather, I plan on making the drive to attend the ride. Will be bringing the '49 Clubman at iabs request. May want to ride a different bike though, so thinking of bringing two. Options that could be brought are:

1955? Viking Trackmaster (single speed)
1959 Viking Severn Valley (refinished and modernized)
1971 Raleigh Competition
1972 Fuji Finest
1973? Raleigh Grand Sports
1974 Raleigh Competition (fixed gear)
1977 Raleigh Team Professional (refinished and modernized)
199? Giant Iguana (drop bar conversion)
2000 Bob Jackson

Leaning towards bringing the 71 Competition, but if there's one someone really wants to see...

The '71 / '72 Witcomb WO-1 (London made) tt bike is done and I've gotten a few hundred miles on it. For now decided to just go with the Dia Compe 610 brakes until a suitable fitting GB pair becomes available. Original gearing stays too! Also have to finish the thread on this project. Love this machine. So different -fast and comfy. Will ride it for the meet. cheer's

Rode the course today, it was tough. Funny how in years past it is a simple ride and now it was a struggle. But even so, my PR for the route is 2:02 and today I did a 2:22. Not a huge difference in my book.

Anyhow, some newly paved sections, which is nice. There is a bridge "out" but entirely rideable. If there are workers, we may need to detour next week but it is really not a worry

Well. I pulled out the Black Lightning to adjust the RD, it clicks when in gear, just needs tuning. And I was looking the Crit bike over, thinking about 40 miles on an old school Cannondale, looked at some tires that just came in...

It fits 28mm Tires!! I mean JUST barely clears the front brake bridge but WOW! I am surprised! Looks like a little cush is possible on these '88 Crit frames after all. Pretty stoked!

The last few photos in the set are with the fat tires. And she shifts just fine now, too.

That Black Lightening is so so so stealth.

Love it.

Wish I was going on this ride.

Left knee gets replaced on Friday, maybe next year.

Might be able to make it this weekend. I haven't done more than 20 miles in a while, but maybe I'll be able to sneak in a couple rides after work this week to see if 40 is possible.

I have a new to me 1989 Raleigh Technium Pre that might just fit in.

Here's hoping that the rain holds off!

20 miles north by mup. I don't like mups. Maybe next spring we do the ride in Wisconsin, my mom is selling the farm next year. Last chance for a ride.

Wife wants to visit the city - the typical touristy stuff - Michigan Ave, Navy Pier, the bean. If any of the locals could clue me in on mass transit options for Saturday afternoon/evening that are convenient to the ride location via PM, or during/after the ride, it would be greatly appreciated.
