Little ring for hills and the big ring for hills is one of the best idea's cycling ever had. But all these fixie wannabe's want a single tiny do all ring. Makes no sense!

Single chainring makes perfect sense if it gives you the gear range you need. A 40x11-40 gives you 101"~27". Go with a 10t if you want higher than 101", or bump it way up to a 42t. One chainring/derailleur/shifter is simpler than two.
As for "fixie wannabe's," whatevs. I ride fixies, I ride shifties, I like clean lines and simple drivetrains. When you Be, there ain't no Wanna.
