Cane Creek 110 Classic threaded headset
Does anyone have one of these? How does that lock nut work? Is that a little allen bolt on the side that secures it? I need a new headset for my '92 PDG (in black) and I want a good one. CK is another option but I hate the huge logos they put on them now.

My 91 has the older CK headset in black. You should look for one, it teaches smooth how to be...
I'm not a great fan of CC stuff when they logo it up. |
the set screw operates as a fixing bolt, preventing your top cap from becoming loose. it usually presses against the threads, but does not damage them.

The set-screw is for a notched steer-tube. It just works like a washer that has a tang or a flat, which helps separate the lock nut from the race nut by keeping the washer from turning when you adjust the nuts.
These are nicer than King's in my opinion. The bearings are removable. So if you want to remove the logos, polish or re-anodize it's no problem. The quality is as good King. |
I've got a couple old 1" King headsets with no logo except a tiny etching on the top nut. Can't recall what crown race size they are though. Did King make both sizes back then, or even now?
