There is a lot a like here.

-Having spoken to Bruce a few times, I like him, owning one of his bikes would be cool.
- this one is from the year of my birth
- mm, blue.
- too small, not that you're selling it.

Enjoy!

I’ll post some more pics if I get some good daylight tomorrow.

Another Silca question: Was it a practice not to leave a pump on the frame long term so as not to leave the springs in compression? Or does it matter either way?

Here is my '76 Bruce Gordon Criterium... serial no. G071176. Same lug treatment as yours.

I got the original order and spec list for mine from Bruce and it was ordered on 9 November 1976 and shipped on 23 December.

Very nice. I see yours has a 531 sticker. Mine has none. Cannot tell if it is 531 or Columbus. Takes either a 27.0 or 27.2 seatpost. Came with 27 but has a 27.2 in it for a short while. No issue with either fitting just fine.

They are scattered in posts all over BF; The older posts I have done in past years have references to photos with broken links caused when I moved from photo bucket to flickr a while ago.

I have just organized a bunch of photos over the years into a Flickr Album for you that documents the changes to the bike since I got it in a trade with a friend back in 1982.

Here is the Album: Bruce Gordon

It's been repainted once and has had seen changes to drivetrain, saddles, handlebar tapes, shifters, brake hoods and several wheel sets over the years. I've mounted fenders during the wet season and took em off nearly every year in the summer for rougher riding, even mounting racks and riding it From Washington State to Colorado fully loaded. I used to commute to work quite frequently 56 miles R/T on it before retiring 3 years ago.

It's been crashed more than I care to admit, though I will say that I have broken my collarbone 3 separate times in the process and the bike has been remarkably durable holding up better than me :-)

The latest photos of what it currently looks like are the ones taken in the grassy field, sporting light greenish blue cloth bar tape.

My serial number is G041176. Someone should setup a registry! Lots alike on these two. Fork crown different. Love the color.

Yes... there should be a registry especially since Bruce Gordon's serial numbers actually mean something and can be decoded easily and give you the Month/Year/and what number your frame was in that month. And, at least until his retirement, he still had all of the build sheets and orders for all the frames he made. I was delighted to get all the original paperwork for mine. It fits me like a glove since the original owner's personal "specs" are identical to mine!

My BG is his early Criterium model with lots of different build details from the Road model including stiffened fork crown, heavier chainstays, higher bb, fastback seat stays and heavier gauge Reynolds to make the larger frame stiffer.

i should probably contact him and procure the build info for this frame. And would not mind the fee for that. Just getting around to it is the issue. Mine fits great. Would be interesting to see how close original owner was to me.

I saw saw your photos on this bike on ipernity. It’s fun to see his work.

I ride in DC when I visit my Son and family. I gave him one of my bikes so I always have a rider up there. The Capitol rides and up and down the river trails.

Here is how I handled the rubber doodads that were missing.

Thanks for more photos

the seat lug is super interesting. I haven’t seen anything like that. And the lug work in general is impressive.

Bruce recently went out of business. (his words) So you may or may not have any luck getting the build info from him.

Beautiful bike!
Bruce once told me that most of his pink bikes were sponsorship bikes for racers. He figured that if he wasn't going to get any money for the bike at least he wanted people to notice it!
I think the lug work on this one is fancier than one would find on a sponsorship bike.

Awesome build and bike. Love the Salsa stem and dirt drop combo. And haven't seen too many bikes with the new GravelKing colors yet. I'm contemplating the white smooth tread 38s for a build.

‘76 was a bad year for top end road bikes, order in November, delivered in December. Backlog for a skilled builder? Not then.
