85 Fuji Club Fuji

This bike will go to a daughter-in-law who is a lot shorter than I am so ignore the seatpost set up used to ride around during testing

Rides very smooth although I had to work on the headset twice as it was a little touchy to get set up correctly.

I also re-spoked the wheels because they were really grungy looking chrome steel losing their chrome and the drive side rear spokes were all flattened by a chain popping over the cog because of poor RD setup.

Also put shorter dropout adjuster screws in as I wanted to move the wheel back a bit. Trying to fit a 14-28 freewheel in there. The Cyclone says top gear is 26t but keeping my fingers crossed.

This will eventually get set up with VO porteur bars and a rear rack for a basket. The metro urban mood!

Paint was in great condition with just a few nicks. The lady I bought it from barely used it.

Photo upload failed. It seems like I have to scratch my head and rub my belly at the same time to make it work. I’ll try again later.

The paint does look amazing! Very pretty, and shiny.

Lovely looking bike, I'm a big fan of Japanese quality and good to see a bike back on the road.

Bikes were so beautiful before the bike industry discovered black paint and carbon

And has now arrived in the DC area and setup as an urban path rider. New VO orange Porteur bars and cockpit plus a new VO rear rack. I pushed the brake levers out to clear the top tube. Otherwise will develop nicks. With other bars that have more rise this has not been a problem. It seems to ride and handle fine by me. Will have to see how the new owner likes it. Does anyone see any issues with this?

That's a nice, clean build though I prefer my drop bar bikes have drop bars :P

Will turning be funky with such a short stem and the porteur bars coming back even farther?

I'm not an expert, just wondering.

Lovely bike otherwise.

I thought so but it seems to ride OK but I ride a 58 this is a 52 and I am hurting for legroom. But it still seems fine. I raised that issue with my son but he really wanted those bars. It’s for his wife. I had no issue with clearance.

Are the tires 28 or 32mm? I had one of these briefly and recall it was fairly stingy on clearance. Only a problem if the recipient wants fenders. Looks nice!

They are 28s with plenty of clearance. Close to the brake but fine everywhere else. In the DC area roads are not always smooth so they really help. Paselas.

Here are the paired bikes. The 85 Raleigh Grand Prix also setup upright for a child carrier. Family rides commencing this afternoon on a beautiful fall day!
