Rickert...?

Anyone here with an original paint Rickert from late '60s - early '70s?

luker 06-09-05 05:01 PM

that's even more unusual than a Somec...I have never seen one. This a track bike?

Rickert made road and track frames. I think they were from Dortmund, Germany. I was just wondering 'bout the original paint thing, 'cause I have one needing paint, and I was hoping to see some in different colors. I've also seen a couple of different decal packages on 'em, so I'm not sure what mine should have ('twas repainted - poorly, sans decals).

TOG, do you have any idea what I'd do to spend a day in your garage?

It's not all that exciting... I do have some funky stuff though. Come on down to the next Velo Rendezvous in Pasadena. You'll see some
really cool stuff there.

Be seeing you . There.

Rickert colors were generally conservative, I have seen greenish gold, silver, light blue metallic, solid orange. Paint was not exceptionally high gloss. Check the fork, (including removing the crown race) A friend has a frame, fork went away while his brother was riding it, yes, face plant, he healed.

be seeing you number6

Last year BB bought a smallish (trollish?) blue Rickert at the VR... about two minutes before I saw it. Different decals than most I'd seen. I think Ted E. said it was a '72. Scary stuff about the fork...

Rickert used to have a big following in Manhattan Beach LA. I believe they were sold by Manhattan Beach Bicycles or by Kucharik. They were quite well thought of. I wanted one but they were way out of my price range as a high school kid.

Will one like this do? Should be from around 1970-72.

...The decal scheme on the seattube is quite rare, and I've seen only one other.

Here's another nice one from 1973 with quite some history. The paintjob is still the original one, with the bike being painted in the colours of the former German racing team "Rokado". :)

...A shame this Beauty is probably the last one that's still around...
