Pinarello Gavia decals
My 1993ish Pinarello Gavia is in good condition. The paint and decals are original. The paint is almost showroom condition, except for some minor marks.
Like all Pinarello's from this time period, the decals are peeling. This winter would be a good time to replace the decals, spot repair the paint and clear coat the frame. I'd like to hear from Pinarello owners who have purchased and installed aftermarket decals. I'm looking for opinions on font accuracy, appropriate thickness and ease of installation. . |
Below is a list of decal suppliers I'm aware of.

Any additional sources for Pinarello Gavia decals? I got the set from Velocals. After looking over all the decals being sold out there. It seems like the set from Velocals matched the original Pinarello decal fonts the closest. You have to look at the openings on the letters O, P and R closely, as That's where you can usually see if they got the aspect ratios of height and widths correct on the decal fonts also the shape of the tails on the D's and the legs on the L's. Lots of sellers out their with their own versions of Pinarello replacement decals, but unfortunately, I noticed most do not match the originals that well, font-wise. Another thing that others had problems with aftermarket decals is the spacing of the letters on the decal sheets. Sometimes it would he off and if there is paint fading around the old decals, you might not be able to hide the unfaded areas of the paint where the letters do not like up exactly to where the old decal letters were located. If that's the case, you will have to cut off each letter from the sheets and install them individually. Lots more work to do that, but certainly worth it, if you want perfection for your top line Gavia. |
