Does this look like a Bianchi?
1 Attachment(s)
Seller knows nothing about frame, claims it's her brothers. She says she thinks it's a Bianchi but can't be bothered to take better photos or look for markings.
Any Bianchi experts out there willing to chime in? |

I "think" I can make out the suggestion of a cycle frame through the pea soup fog... ----- |
No way anything is discernible about this bike with just this photo.

Mmmm, according to the movie Blade Runner, the technology needed to elucidate the truth of the matter will become available in 2019. Until then, who knows!

Whatever it is, good luck getting that seat post out.

I think Bianchi might be the chicken of the C&V scene.

FWIW, I do see a dropout with an integral hanger, so it's likely a forged version, despite the brand being indiscernible. I can't see any braze-ons, with the exception of a cable stop on the top of the chainstay. While the crankset looks entry level, frame characteristics suggest a higher grade. If it's local and the attractively priced, I'd be taking a look.

The Southern California Santa Ana winds are so bad this year, it is driving the smog indoors. lol

What details I can make out in the bad pick are consistent with a mid level Bianchi from the 80's. The frame set looks to have been drewed and repainted. Based on the vintage the seat stays or fork crown are likely pantographed Bianchi which the seller could likely confirm. Nearly all the 80's Bianchi's had the brand pantoed somewhere on the frame set which you can check if you go look at the frame.

I agree with T-Mar, I'd go take a look at it if it's cheap and reasonably close. Could be a nice find, Bianchi or not.

Fuzzy photos and fuzzy descriptions always leave me with the impression that it might be stolen.

This one doesn't have the look of a stolen bike more like someones abandoned fixie project, you tend to see a lot of these on CL.
|
Size wise I'm guessing around a 58cm?
|
It's a PX-10. Everything on Craigslist is a PX-10.

I don't think this is a 1980s, drewed Bianchi, as suggested. If it was 1980s, I'd expect top tube cable tunnels, which typically wouldn't be drewed. Also, if it had been drewed, I would have expected the dropout eyelets to be removed. I suspect it is pre-1980s.

Any bike where T-Mar's description doesn't start with "the second from the bottom in that year's hierarchy" has a shot at greatness. |
Price was right but what is it?

so I was in the area this morning, stopped by and lady ended up offering frame to me for FREE. No markings on frame indicate a Bianchi and when asked why she thought that her response was, "Because seat says "Bianchi" on it.":roflmao2:
Anyway, since the price was right and it is my size, I figured I'd grab and research. So here are some photos. There are no markings or serial number any where that I can see but frame looks like it was in the middle of a silver spray can repaint. Let me know your thoughts and if there's any more info I can get off the frame let me know. FYI - Seat post slid right out no problem :) |

bit more clean-up, paint it and you acquire an uncle named Robert! Don

Markings on bottom bracket cups?
Seat post diameter? Markings on fork's steerer tube? Markings on drive side dropout? SunTour GT? Looks mass produced, mid-range, mid to late 1970s. A lot of similarities to a Centurion Super Le Mans or Elite. Did you check the non-drive side of the lower seat tube for the S/N? |
