Short Stem Presta Tubes

I have been having trouble finding Presta tubes with short stems. I used to get nice short ones just about anywhere , but now it seems even if I order them (Trek Bikes Store) , they come in at 36 or 38mm. They look much better if they are 32mm or shorter. Joe

Blame the trend toward deeper section rims. I've got a box of 36mm stem tubes in my garage that I consider nearly useless because they don't extend far enough from most of my rims to get a pump mounted.

My LBS most likely carries short stem presta tubes. I've ended up with a few on my bikes...what size do you need?

So does Dick's Sporting Goods. The shorter ones are definitely rare these days.

Amen to the OP, its like looking for an honest politician trying to find a presta valve stem shorter than 42mm now. They just seem tacky on a square section tubular or clincher rim to me. I would be happy just to find some decent 38mm or 36mm presta stem tubs.

And even in a tube for clinchers they are getting scarcer and scarcer, my CAAD 10 has a shallower aero section to them and the 42mm are well above the top.

I have not been in a Walmart in many years now. Had no idea that they had them, are they Bell?

Bike Tires Direct lists some 32mm stem Presta tubes, but none shorter, at least in 700C..

Hmm... just for kicks, I went to Niagara Cycle's webpage and found no less than four brands offering 700C tubes with 32mm stems right away.

So short stems don't appear to be endangered to me, but go ahead and stock up (vote with your pocketbook) if you're concerned.

Thank you for that, I will check it out.

I like short valves myself (32mm preferred, but up to 40mm doesn't bug me too much), so I had to double-check.
