Restoration - Nishiki Professional/Campagnolo

When I found this bike a year ago there were four things missing from the list of specified parts in the Nishiki Catalog of 1981 for this model. The correct seat, stem, handlebar/handlebar tape and the correct rear freewheel.

After much sleuthing all have been found, as well as a bonus, and to borrow from the Talking Heads it is now restored and the “Same as it ever was.”

San Marco Concor seat, specified in catalog as “suede”, but by great good fortune this San Marco Concor Supercorsa America was found which my bike builder friend had stored away.Maxim: "Never throw anything old away!"

And the bonus? I had a 1980s Silca frame pump with Campagnolo presta valve end and some color matched paint so I had the pump painted to match the colors and banding pattern on the seat tube.

There she is. Yes, there is a bell and an old school Cateye cycle computer, but that’s because a thing of beauty is best, when used.

Thanks to all for your encouragement and support, see you on the road.

Thanks danmyersmn.

To explain the Professional/Campagnolo reference this is a beautifully made Japanese frame with all Campagnolo Nuovo Record gruppo.

The prior post from March 2016 with pictures of this bike as found is: Nishiki Professional with Campagnolo Nuvo Record Gruppo. And yes that should be "Nuovo", I say potato you say tomato, I'll get it right some day.

52-42/13-19? Too stiff a bottom gear for me.
