I think you might have been had.
If you look very closely at the top tube and downtube right near the head tube, it looks like it might have been in a front end crash.

Not quite vintage but definitely a classic touring bike. An early 2000s Cannondale touring bike repainted and redecaled.

Found an interesting crank, new chain, new grips, laced shimano rsx hubs with some old beretta rims, challenge strada bianca tires, and replaced the saddle with a san marco linea, lighter and more comfy...
