Just finished this 1968 Lygie Record Pro in a retro-mod style. Sorry about the garage door backdrop, it was too muddy everywhere else!

Do I spy a Cardiff saddle on this gorgeous bicycle? How do you like it in comparison to Brooks?

Yes, it is a Cardiff saddle and overall I like it. Is is not the same quality as an older Brooks, but for that matter the newer Brooks aren't as good either.

I agree on the modern Brooks quality, at least the basic models. The Specials are still up to traditional standards, IMHO, but demand a premium because of that.

I have two Cardiff saddles on my bikes: a Mercia and a Cornwall. Both were absolute bargains when I bought them, and I think they compare favorably to the basic B17.

Nice! Function and beauty...is that a Soma cage on the RD? How's the shifting?

It shifts pretty well, typical for a Super Record RD on a 7 speed. The extended cage does not seem to have an impact on the function.

I rode this black bike more distance than any of the others during 2021:

Plucky little machine & quite a goer.
