Bit puzzled by this Vitus ? PY10CF

Hi folks . Got this frame that I thought was a carbon Vitus or maybe a Pug PY10CF.

Has me puzzled now.
Has the collars that my PY10CF has on the lugs
Lugs look like the vitus i have .
Top tube cable guides are plastic ?
25mm seat post .

A couple of things have made me take a bit of a double take .

Firstly the tubing has the look of carbon but when I tap it it sounds totally different from my carbon frames
Sounds like alloy ,looks like carbon ?
Not painted that I can tell (have given one tube a good scrape )
Also pretty obvious that seat tube is carbon because of some lug damage( too ugly to photograph)

Also the lugs and the non drive side rear stays are anodised.
The chain stay is polished alloy the same as my Vitus .
I have never seen an anodised Vitus .

So is it a variant ? ANy idea what it is ?
no history from previous owner .
Also may have spent time in the uk as there is the remains of a uk retailer sticker on top tube .

As you can see from the pictures it is in a sorry state so will probably hang in the cave forever .
Just got me curious

Any input ,questions happily received , answered

Uhmmm....looks like a Peugeot PY10 FC that has had a very hard life......
The thin line on the tube (along the tubes long axis) that looks like a molding seam is very characteristic of CF frame tubes used on PY10FC's. Also, if you measure the frame tube diameter, it should be slightly oversized.
Looks like the previous owner installed water bottle bosses on the down tube. Peugeot supposedly did not do this as they were afraid that doing such could weaken the CF tube...... Same goes for the down tube sh8f5er bosses, that might have been sourced from a Vitus Carbine or 979.
I guess what I am saying is, it could be just a modded up PY10FC frame, as I never saw those added features on any of them.

Hi Chombi ,

Thanks for the input . Yes agreed it "looks" like a PY10FC . It does measure the same as my PY10FC but it really doesnt sound the same . The tubes ring when I tap them . Try it on your PY10FC :-)

The other bit I found unusual was the anodizing on the frame . Not obvious in pictures but quite obvious in real life .

Ah well it will be one of those mysteries I guess ?

cheers

Sorry, no way to check the ring on my PY10FC and my other CF bikes without totally taking them apart.
I do remember that my CF frames did have some sort of "ring" to them, not a pure metallic ring but a lower toned sort of damped ring (more like a higher pitched gong sound). Before building them up, I tapped on my frames to check for loose glue joints. It's my unscientific way of checking the frame for tube/lug bond condition.
I just also noticed that the previous owner might have added some sort of bolt or stud to the back of the BB shell, between the chainstays. I wonder what that thing is for,........a fender mount, maybe? Kinda strange for a race frame like this.
