Saturday ride in Portlandia 1/13/2018

@Andy_K and I have a streak going. You have to respect the streak, so neither of us has washed our cycling shorts, and Andy hasn't shaved in, well, I don't think he owns a razor. Jan 1 we rode over frozen tundra, last weekend it was the Forest Park mudathon. Both days were dry, no rain. Saturday is shaping up to be dry and in the mid-50's.

@ollo_ollo is driving up from Sublimity with his controversial measles-infested Peugeot, we're going to use some of my barbaric frame tools and try to bend it back. We know there's a good chance it's a goner, but you can't break what's already broken. He's also bringing a bike for riding.

So that's three meeting at Atelier Gugie, 10am-ish. I'm pimping the Neal Lerner Tribute Pastry Ride for the route. It's as flat as one can find, short rolling hills, and has a great built-in pastry/lunch stop

Ridewithgps route shows 32 miles

That was a fun ride last year, gugie.

I'd like to do it again. If I could find another local C&Vr to carpool with, I might do it(pending clearance from the tower).

I am prepared to personally guarantee that the lunch stop for this ride will be warmer than where we ate on the New Year's Day ride.

@Insidious C., is that new Trek of yours ready to ride?

@PortlandEddie, last time you said "next time for sure." This is next time.

@79pmooney, no football this time?

@jyl, haven't seen you riding in a while. All work and no play makes John a dull boy.

Oh, heck, I was sure you were going to crash the TV show Portlandia.

Have fun on the ride. I'm still thinking about coming up for the ride/meet scheduled for February.

I'm being asked by PM where we're starting from.

http://tinyurl.com/gugies-place

Right now the lineup is:
@gugie @ollo_ollo @Andy_K @Insidious C. @vitaly66, coming up from Salem - say, ollo_ollo is coming up from Sublimity...
@Johnny Ace, a carpool opportunity?

I am in for part of it. Have tickets to a concert in the afternoon, but you are close enough that I can't pass this up.

What’s your average speed like?

Oh, 32 or so. Unless I'm leading, then much slower.

But yep, out Scholls Ferry. You ever been to the South Store Cafe? Cute little place, good food.

You in?

@gugie - you know that “hill” starting just west of Murray? I’ve never been able to ride up that, at the best of times.....

I’ve been berry picking across the street from the place. Are you all going to hang at your place upon return?

VV, don't let worries about keeping up hold you back. You won't be alone, since I'm geriatric and anemic to boot. Expecting to drop back on any real hills, but never saw one to steep to walk up. Ride looks to be pretty flat with that 1 exception. Don

On the inaugural Neal Lerner Ride @79pmooney showed us a route modification that avoids that hill. I expect we'll be taking that. Also, I notice @gugie didn't put a unit with that 32. I can assure you that it isn't mph on any ride I'm on unless we're going down a long, steep hill.

A lot of people don't realize that Portlandia is a slice-of-life documentary, not a comedy show.

Screw that hill. I'm riding Barrows. Takes the hill completely out.
