No, not really. It is more an amalgam of bad ideas and after market parts, all living in one place. My guess it that it is a later model 700 series hybrid (which are fine bikes in their own right) but this has been "upgraded" with parts that seem to have been chosen more for their black color, than anything else. All just my opinion.

I also think you could find a nice example of a 700 series hybrid for about $150 depending on your location.

Yeah, definitely a mid-90s 700 series. It'd be a nice ride, but you wouldn't easily be able to tell what grade the tubing is, so it might be pretty hefty. If you were looking for a turn-key commuter, I'd say it'd be worth offering $250 with all decent new parts and bar ends, depending on the state and quality of the wheelset. Kinda looks like CR-18s and Formula hubs, so pretty basic but durable.

It looks like a mid ‘90s 520 too me.

I have emailed the guy to see what it is. I will let y’all know what is if I hear back. There are two bikes in Atlanta on CL that have my interest.

Seems to me that the fork is missing mid-blade eyelets and has cable stops on the down tube instead of shifter brazeons, which should mean it's a hybrid. Same frame geometry as the 520, though, I think. Major difference is the kind of tubing used, aside from the brazeons.

It looks like there are shiny black decals on the down tube and seat tube, but I can't see them clearly in these pics. I suspect it's a later model that came from the factory with matte paint. Since the OP emailed the seller, I guess we'll know soon enough.

Another vote for a mid-90's low 700 series MultiTrack. It clearly has orphaned hardware for cantilever brakes (basic flat steel cable hanger in front, noodle near the seat post clamp). They needed a cable stop on the top tube to run V brakes, so they used a clamp-on one.

Example:

Even late 90's 520s had 2 cable stops on the top tube and brake bridges in back.

They spray painted it matte black whenever they did the frame-up custom build. It's popular on commuter bikes because they think it makes the bike invisible to thieves.

Really crazy/idiotic build there. Chain looks way too long. Whats going on with that RD position. I don't care for it at all. Tarted up hybrid. Crap plastic pedals. Nice touch..... On a $75 bike, sure. On a $300 bike?

Heard back from the owner. He said he isn’t sure but that it says 720 on the side. The spray paint and cheap pedals being added makes me wonder if it is stolen or has been stolen at some point. Gonna pass on this one.
