The comfort came later when I realized there was a reason for being super tired after a short ride. So yes, in a sense, it did make me stronger.

I quite like the monthly colour threads. Has there ever been a monthly alphabet thread? For example; post your bikes starting with A could be Atala, Apollo, Alan, etc.

As long as you're ready for it to morph into whatever it doe's, sounds like a good idea to me. I would suggest 2 letters a month so it could run for a year like the colors/months, maybe get to the end and have UVW + XYZ to pick up the extra 2 letters at the end for Nov. and Dec.

Small aside, your Rally RD is the second version with the reinforcing rib in the knuckle, only a little less fragile.
FWIW I have one that is fine after 40yrs. 90% that I have seen are still going despite the bad rap they have, only seen a couple broken ones.

Cheers! It was sold at Bicyclesport in Toronto, they had a big soft spot for British bikes, especially Randonneurs. Back in the '70's I'd have turned my nose up at anything that wasn't 100% Campy, so i may well have walked past this very bike in the shop and not noticed it!
That's actualy the 1st gen. Rally (the crack-o-matic, I remember replacing broken ones on a weekly basis back in the '80's). Surprisingly light for such a big derailleur and it shifts well too (way better than a Nuvo Record). I will replace it with 1st. gen. Cyclone as soon as I can find one for cheap.

Once again, unintentionally, picked up a color-of-the-month bike in the current month. Thrift store had a winter bike sale yesterday; there was a crowd at the door when they opened. Found this '87 Trek 830:
Few miles, mostly storage "wear", no shortage of paint chips. First thing that had to go was the saddle:

The original stainless steel riser bar also had to go. Between that, the saddle swap, and the (
) kickstand, I managed to put it on a one-day 750-gram diet.

Those fork braze-ons make me want to mount a low rider, just because I can....
Below is Ruby, acquired last spring. Mystery bike of sorts. Sports an EARLY '82 400-series serial number, but the mech cable routing is totally '83. Also an investment cast fork crown that wouldn't have appeared on an '82 400-ish bike. Appears to be a re-spray. Mongrel components - Blue Line rear mech, Suntour ratchet shifters, Arabesque crank on the drive side only, 600 brakes with Tektro aeros. It even came with a Helicomatic, but only a 5-speed, with 700 rear rim, and a 27-er up front. Maybe Johnny Cash built it....

Bianchi Strada
Purchased from previous owner as a bare frame only, fresh from powder coating. The gentleman was getting out of all things cycling just as it returned from refinishing. Every component was added individually as acquired. Decals were also made and applied by yours truly. Assume it’s probably mid to late ‘80’s vintage. Has placed in a few shows over the years.
