Aero adapter mount

I have a univega super strada that I want to put a modern groupset on. The frame has a single aero downtube shifter braze on. Is there an adapter I can use for cable stops?

Way back when, Suntour made one. Tough to find, and a tad pricey when you do. There are home brewed solutions, do a search in this forum.

I saw a Suntour aero cable stop adaptor go for $120 on eBay about 2 years ago. The only one I've ever seen for sale there.

There was also the Gipiemme Aero shift lever adapter

There are a few threads here on how to modify a Suntour Symmetric body for cable guides. If I recall, the threading might have been odd, so if you go this route and need to buy one off eBay, make sure it has the bolt.

While it would look nicer using an aero adapter, you don't have to use one. Just buy https://www.ebay.com/itm/Huret-28-6-...kAAOSwnHZYgls2 Then use regular cable adjusters.

It would be pretty easy to make one with a small hunk of aluminum, and 3 holes drilled into it. OR, get fancy and 3d print one. Pretty simple model. I'm sure there's at least 3 or 4 other people on earth that really want one too... :)

How hard would it be to remove the existing brazed on mount the use one of the clamp on style kind?

Don't bother removing the mount. Apart for being blasphemous ;) you'll need it as a stop to prevent the band clamp from slipping along the downtube. Clean it and put a dab of clear silicone goop in the threads for rust protection
